CCF and Transition Cambridge are delighted to be running a Repair Cafe to mark Global Earth Optimism Day
Our Repair Cafe is at the Solutions Fair because they help reduce waste and consumption. Consumption accounts for around 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions so holding onto your stuff for longer is important. The UK is listed as one of the top 5 countries in the world for generating electronic waste and Repair Cafes help address this – repairing a 13″ Macbook Pro saves the equivalent of nearly half a tonne of greenhouse gases.
Repair Cafes match experienced repairers with people who need stuff fixing. You can bring along the following to be repaired and maybe pick up a few repair skills at the same time: small household appliances and electrical items, computers, mobile phones, bicycles, clothes (clean clothes only please) and general bits and bobs. Please book your item in by going to http://transitioncambridge.org/repaircafe or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org , telling us what you are bringing and what’s wrong with it (if you know!). You can turn up with your item on the day but you may need to wait to be seen. The repairers are experienced and can fix most things but there are no guarantees.
This is a free event. However, donations to cover venue hire and other costs are very welcome.
