Cambridge Repair Café Plus

The hugely popular Cambridge Repair Cafe is returning to Chesterton this autumn and there will be a few additional environmentally themed events on offer at the same time. Transition Cambridge and Cambridge Carbon Footprint are hosting the afternoon that will feature:

A Repair Café: Repair Cafes match experienced repairers with people who need stuff fixing. Bring along the following to be repaired and to pick up repair skills:small household appliances and electrical items, computers, mobile phones, bicycles, clothes (clean clothes only please) and general bits and bobs. You can turn up with your item on the day and may have to wait a while, or book your items in. The repairers are brilliant and can fix most things but there are no guarantees.

A Skillshare on Sewing Repairs

How about learning some simple sewing repair skills yourself? At the sewing skillshare area you ‘ll be able to pick up some basic mending tips and skills, like taking up a hem, mending a tear, darning a hole. How about bringing along that unfinished sewing or knitting project lurking in a corner and we’ll give you a hand to get it back on track? If you can, let us know the sewing skills you’d like help with, but you can just turn up too.

A workshop (2pm- 3:30pm) on Successful Draught Proofing and Repairs: learn how to make your home cosier, cut bills and pick up a free draught-proofing kit. This session is being run as part of the Open Eco Homes follow-up series.

All events are free, however donations to cover venue hire and other costs are very welcome.
