I am an illustrator, printmaker and textile artist, based near Cambridge. I studied Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. I find that constructing textile pieces is complementary to the puzzle solving involved in printmaking, both mentally and physically. My work is almost always inspired by narrative, often from folk tales or legends, but my textile pieces are often more personal. I love the beauty of old things and I am often to be found in charity shops looking for interesting objects and fabrics to re-use.

Description of Jackie’s artwork appearing in CirculART
Textile art made from recycled fabric – saris, random scraps, and pieces salvaged from family clothing. Printmaking, embroidery and other embellishments tell a story.

Why Jackie chooses to use repurposed materials
Old/recycled textiles add narrative or richness of color and textures. It is more exciting to work with them than to buy new supplies.
