My first waistcoat was a retirement gift for a primary school headteacher. The front was made from a dozen ties which had been gifts or mementos spanning his long career. He now calls it his ‘technicolour memory coat’.

Description of Harriet’s artwork appearing in CirculART
Silk waistcoats for men and women embellished with repurposed fabrics.

What repurposed materials does Harriet use
Silk ties and other scraps from old silk.

Why Harriet chooses to use repurposed materials
Ties are going out of fashion yet each uses almost a metre of fine fabric which is a shame to waste.
